In Memoriam Joseph C. Maddalon, Sr.
Joseph Charles Maddalon, Sr., of Zelienople, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, passed away at the age of 77.
Born August 23, 1947, he was the only son of the late Joseph and Margaret Maddalon. Joe graduated from St. Francis De Sales Catholic School in 1964.
Joe was the founder and owner of Maddalon Jewelers for over 30 years, where he built lasting relationships and became a pillar of the local community.
A proud veteran, Joe served in the U.S. Army’s 1st Calvary during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars. He was an active member of the American Legion and held deep pride in his military service.
Joe was deeply involved in local organizations and causes. He was a former member of the Zelienople Zoning Board and the Zelienople Civil Service Commission. He was a member of the Hungarian Beneficial Society. A longtime advocate for youth sports, he spent many years as a coach for both Seneca Valley Youth Football and Baseball. He also served on the Seneca Valley Youth Football and Basketball Booster Clubs.
An avid golfer, Joe was a cherished member of the Connoquenessing Country Club, where he enjoyed countless rounds of golf with friends and family. His greatest joy, however, was his four grandsons. He never missed an opportunity to celebrate their achievements, and his pride in them was immeasurable.
Throughout his life, his vibrant love of life touched everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication to family and community.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Kathleen Maddalon; his children, David (Amy) Maddalon of Cranberry, Joseph Jr. (MaryBeth) Maddalon of Cranberry, and Melissa Nicole Maddalon of Ellwood City; and his grandchildren, Connor, Andrew, Owen, and Tanner. As well as many friends who will remember him for his warmth, spirit, and unwavering love for those he held dear.
Friends and family are welcome on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Boylan Funeral Home, Inc., 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, Pa 16063.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Gregory Church – Divine Grace Parish, 2 W Beaver St., Zelienople, PA 16063. Friends and family please meet at church.
Joe will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s honor to Zelienople Community Park and North Catholic High School.
